India Aims to Become Global Hub for Artificial Intelligence Applications and AI Solutions
India has reaffirmed its ambition to become the global hub for Artificial Intelligence applications and AI-driven solutions. At the CII Global Capacity Centres Business Summit 2026 in New Delhi, officials highlighted the Government’s AI vision, productivity focus, and India’s growing role in the global technology ecosystem.
Addressing the inaugural session of the Confederation of Indian Industry’s Global Capacity Centres Business Summit 2026 in New Delhi, Secretary in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology S Krishnan said the Government has maintained a positive and optimistic approach towards Artificial Intelligence since the beginning.
Krishnan said the primary focus has been on leveraging Artificial Intelligence to improve productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness across various sectors. He added that the Government has been working towards enabling India to adopt Artificial Intelligence effectively while making a significant contribution to the global AI ecosystem.
He stated that the vision is to transform India into the application and AI-based solutions capital of the world, strengthening the country’s role in developing advanced technology solutions for global markets.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Economic Advisor to the Government Dr V Anantha Nageswaran said India currently hosts around half of the Global Capacity Centres worldwide. He highlighted that this achievement was not accidental but driven by the country’s people, with talent remaining the central force behind India’s growing position in the global technology landscape.
The summit highlighted India’s expanding capabilities in Artificial Intelligence, innovation, and technology-driven solutions, reflecting the Government’s efforts to position the country as a leading destination for AI applications and global technology development.
